Heat From Propane Torches Can Ease Home Fix-Up Problems

Have you ever encountered a problem where you couldn't loosen a stuck nut or bolt? We've all tried methods like greasing or even just going at it with brute strength, but at the end of the day you're stuck and the bolts are still intact. Am I right? The main cause of this natural weld is due to years of rust and corrosion between the fuse. The most common way to detach these kinds of joints, believe it or not, is to use heat. Heat is more often used by professional mechanics when dealing with this particular type of "stucky" situation. Now, don't go right to the problem and think a regular lighter will do the trick. The mechanics use propane torches for their source of heat. The propane torch is used like a giant lighter helping you isolate stuck hardware.

You are probably asking yourself where can I find a propane torch and even if you did find one, wouldn't it be a little too much. There some good news for you, there is actually mini propane torches for everyday household use. You could easily find them at your nearest hardware store. However, if you are looking for a bargain (I always am), you can always refer to the internet for lower prices. Propane torches are handy tools to have in your garage or workshop. Trust me, if you don't have a pocket torch, you're making your life harder than it needs to be.

Cordless Soldering Iron

Mechanics usually use propane torches to solder copper water pipes, welding applications, and brazing dissimilar metals together. In addition, a little heat can burn right through and solve some difficult home fix-up problems such as softening old paint and putty, thaw frozen locks and rusted nuts and solder electrical and plumbing connections, braze metals, cut or weld iron and steel.

The propane torch is easy and safe to use if it is handled properly. Being cautious with this type of instrument is crucial. Usually, the joints to be fused are near flammable parts of the house, so it can't be stressed enough that you truly need to be careful when using a propane torch. Not to mention, it is probably one of the most dangerous tools you will ever use. In some scenarios, dropping a propane torch could break the burner nozzle, dent, or even puncture the cylinder which can cause an exploding reaction. Remember to handle this tool with care. Store it somewhere cool where children can't reach it.

It's fine to use it indoors as long as you are not enclosed within a small space. The reason why is that propane gives off a small amount of carbon monoxide and it will get difficult to breathe. If at any time you are feeling light headed or you get a headache, go get some fresh air. Also, try to make a habit of shutting of the torch whenever you set it aside, even if for a moment or two; the flame is silent, nearly invisible and easy to forget about. Especially on sunny days, the flame will be very difficult to see. Be extra careful on windy days as well. The flame could blow back at you.

Propane torches can easily solve numerous household hardware problems and make your life easier. However, like almost every other hardware tool in the market today, it must be handled with extreme care. When actually using the tool, be sure to keep the instruction manual at arm's reach. You'll never know when you'll need it.
