After installing a few expensive solar panels on our home we wondered how do I build electric solar panels. It would cost thousands of dollars to set up a system to power the average home with store bought panels. Is there a better way?
Thankfully the answer is yes, you can build your own at a fraction of the cost of new.
Cordless Soldering Iron
What do you need to start?
· A place to work- garage, basement, spare room.
· Normal household tools- cordless drill, wrenches and a soldering iron
· A good helper- friends, your kids, your spouse etc.
· Detailed plans on how do I build electric solar panels
We really wanted to keep the costs down and the plans showed us sources of inexpensive and even free materials. They were a great help. We even learned how to build a wind generator too, which is a good idea. Diversifying your renewable energy power supply allows more power to be produced by your system.
Think of it this way, if the sun isn't shining then the wind will surely be blowing, sometimes even both at the same time.
In order to learn how do I build electric solar panels you need to connect small wires together to join the individual cells and the best way to do that is with soldering.
It is a simple skill to learn too. A small handheld soldering iron (looks like a pencil) is held on the wire to be joined together and when they heat up enough a small amount of solder is touched onto the two wires instantly joining them.
About 10 minutes of practice will have you soldering wires together easily.
The plans show you where to find individual solar cells which are the building blocks of the panels. It takes several cells (small square or round discs) to build one panel.
The cells are placed on a backer board and the wires are simply joined together linking all of the cells together. It's a simple process that is really easy to learn. Anyone can do it. Be careful though as the soldering iron gets hot.
The first time you see the sun striking those homemade solar panels producing free electricity for your home you will be glad you took the time to find out how to do this.
Did you know that electric rates are supposed to double in cost next year?
Isn't it time you got started building your own solar panels? Let's get started.
